Another lie is that of the vibrant democracy. Israelis are as brainwashed as anybody. It could be that once upon a time the people were more independent minded and politics was more vibrant. That's when the 'Israeli's' were European and Arab-land born. Today it's largely controlled by a kind of military-government-media enterprise. Some token opposition is allowed but it's really token. Professors get bounced out of the country if they criticize the government with any real vigor. There's a law left over from the Ottoman empire that a person is not aloud to criticize a government official. People go to jail for this. External critics of Israel get banned from entering the country. Israelis don't argue politics all day. Rather, they talk about their smart phones and TV shows like everybody else on the planet. If you espouse views different from theirs, or even raise questions, they become your enemy.
