Where Are We Now?

When I first got to Israel I wanted to learn all about it, it's people, culture, government, etc. So I toured, visited the Kenneset, various museums, and tried to interact with all kinds of Israelis. I was interested in them, their lives, their views, their family histories. They as it turns out were not at all interested in me. I have been here 9 months and still have not been invited into any Israeli's home for anything. But worse, no Israeli has tried to get to know me at all. The Russians, who are only as Israeli as their length of time here will dictated, took some interest. But Israelis nothing. It's surprising given how much they drown themselves in American culture. Here's a real American. Talk to him. I don't know if I have met in my life people more barren and impossible than Israelis. They are nothing of what they claim to be, or American Zionists claim that they are. They are not soft inside or lovers of give and take argument. They are stone inside and ...

Rabbi Avigdor Miller on the State

The State of Israel solves nothing. All “problems” remain  the same, and new ones are created: 1) The Arabian lands have been rendered uninhabitable for Jews; 2) constant wars with neighbors must be waged, incurring huge military expenditures and loss of many lives, in addition to constant peril; 3) it has exacerbated Jew-hatred in the nations, due to Arab influence and also to embroilment with the foreign policy of the nations; 4) and the proponents of the State of Israel attempt to kindle a fire under the Jews in all lands in order to make their position untenable so that they emigrate to augment the population of the new State. (Sing You Righteous, p. 25) Can a Jew expel a gentile who possesses land in the Land of Israel? Certainly not, because the land is not ours right now. (Tape # 35 (1973) Question 6) Rabbi Avigdor Miller, rabbi of Bais Yisroel Synagogue, Brooklyn, USA (1908-2001)

Is there a single truth?

It seems to me at this point that not a single thing I was told about the State of Israel and its society is actually true or even a little true. I believe I have talked here about the so called democracy and its back room politicking where the people vote for parties that collude to make governments. A Prime Minister and President in jail should tell you what you need to know about the results. I have talked about its judiciary that picks its own judges. I have talked about the newspapers that, except for a few token columnists, espouse a party line on most serious issues, particularly the Palestinian issue. I have talked about how this so called democracy bans critics like Norman Finkelstein and the octogenarian Noam Chomsky, two book worms who are claimed to be security threats and how MKs regularly try to ban the Breaking the Silence group for committing the great sin of criticizing the sacred IDF. Some democracy. But let's talk about the people. Two Jews three opinions. Isn...

Flooding South Lebanon

"The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a short statement on December 24, 2007, on the results of an internal inquiry into its controversial use of cluster munitions during the 34-day war with Hezbollah in July and August 2006. [1]  During that short conflict, the IDF rained an estimated 4 million submunitions on south Lebanon, the vast majority over the final three days when Israel knew a settlement was imminent. The inquiry was the second internal IDF investigation into the use of the weapon, and like its predecessor it exonerated the armed forces of violating international humanitarian law (IHL). Neither a detailed report nor the evidence supporting conclusions has been made public, however, making it impossible to assess whether the inquiry was carried out with rigor and impartiality, and whether it credibly addressed key issues about targeting and the lasting impact of cluster munition strikes on the civilian population. " Human Rights Watch's researchers were on the...

Living the in the Real World

I listened the other day to another right wing Israeli commentator, an aide to Sharon. He kept carrying on in his glib, confident Israeli way about living in the real world. To him, only ferocity is realistic. Any other approach to life is liberal or Western or just plain ignorant of the situation. Yet, strangely, he didn't cite any facts in his long diatribes. One sees this often with the war mongers. They claim to be in the real world but don't cite facts. This one talked about his grandfather coming from Poland with a Bible in one hand and a gun in the other. Kept talking about his grandfather, over and over. And I couldn't help but wonder how at the same time he could claim to be living in the real world as he waxed poetic about his fantasies about the chaluztim. The other mythology which is positioned as realism is that all the Arabs want to kill us. One never hears facts. This utterance is put forth as fact even as Egypt and Jordan are sitting on a 40 year peace with ...

The IDF destroyed 16,000 homes in Gaza

The IDF destroyed 16,000 homes in Gaza but won't allow building materials into Gaza on the pretext that they could be used for terror tunnels. Thus, they are continuing to punish a civilian population. And it is a civilian population. The IDF commanders are quite enamored with the illusion of their power when their 'power' consists of bombing civilians with American made weapons. They are starting up with the whole world and are full of a sense of their own greatness. Now Jews have a greatness but it's based on mitzvah observance not military power. As usual, the secular zionists steal the identity of Orthodox Jews. Shai ben Tekoa claims that the Arabs steal from the Jews - bris milah, Avraham, daily prayer, etc. But the Israelis steal from traditional Jews. There was no Israeli language and until recently, as with the Palestinians, there was no literature or cuisine. It's all stolen, Hebrew from the ancient Hebrews, the Tanach from the same source. The cuisine is j...

IDF and the Orthodox

There he stood before me, a solder with a kippa on the morning train. I was sitting in a side seat facing not front or back but across the width of the train. These are solo seats near the baggage racks. I sit there sometimes to get a little solitude and to be free of blank faces staring at their smart phones and the gentile clothing. But this solder decided rather than taking a seat in the cars to stand in front of me and, what was he doing? Was he putting on his tefillin? That's what I thought at first. He did seem to be carrying a tefillin bag. But he worked on his tefillin shel yad for what seemed like 10 minutes. What a strange custom I thought. I watched a little more closely as he went to work on his left arm. What is he doing? Then I realized, he's folding his shirt sleeve, folding it perfectly, into little 2 inch folds. I recalled the Italian men I saw in my youth in New York. He turned a bit and then like a flash it hit me. His arms were muscular and even the veins we...

Hebron in 1929

INTERVIEW WITH RABBI BARUCH KAPLAN.  This is a free translation of a Yiddish transcript of a taped interview made some twenty years ago with the late Rabbi Baruch Kaplan, who was a principal of the Beis Yaakov Girls School in Brooklyn, and who was a student in the Hebron yeshiva (religious school) in 1929 at the time of the killing of a number of Jews by some Arabs.  Rabbi Kaplan explains how events unfolded, and how the Zionists precipitated the events by provoking the Palestinians    Rabbi Kaplan “When I was in Hebron in 1929, there occurred the tragic massacre of over twenty yeshiva students, great scholars, plus another forty members of the Jewish community. I would like to describe the error that has circulated in Jewish communities – a horrible er ror, that accuses the Arabs in Hebron of being murderers who attacked the Jews simply because the Arabs were “bad people.” In order to correct the record, this error must be corrected.  The Arabs were very friend...

David Stockman explains the last 30 years

http://davidstockmanscontracorner.com/the-trumpster-sends-the-gopneocon-establishment-to-the-dumpster/ if you can get through this, it sums up the last 30 years quite well. I want to note the role of crazy fry  Jews here, including Bernake, Yellen, Fisher, Netanyahu, and Wolfowitz. "if not for the Torah, the Jews would destroy the world. Because the are so bold."
